A teacher here asked me if I can find a "Basic Mouse Skills for Kindergardeners" type program for OS X...

I haven't found much yet...

Was wondering if anyone had a suggestion.

They need mousing lessons? I've always found kids to be very quick at picking it up. Even finding out things that teachers didn't know you could do. Seems to me that any app that has kids moving the mouse around would be fine. Like Concentration where you have to match pictures.

a car battery charger with sponges attached would also help them learn pretty quicky.

Probably want to go with a lower amp unit, however.

Hate to say it, but the biggest problem we have is not dumb students, but teachers that are dumber than rocks... THEY won't take the time to learn how to use the computer, and so they have real trouble teaching the kids about them... even the basics...

Paul, tell them to just turn the kids loose! Honestly, using a mouse is like using a push button phone these days. Remember when we were kids and were taught how to use a rotary phone? Schools don't teach kids how to use phones anymore. Other than 911 is for help. The best you and they can do is have the kids play just about any game, like The Playroom, to get experience in mousing.

I assume they are just using a one button mouse?

One button, and some two-button mice I've bought as replacements when Kindergardeners goop up the factory mice too badly

If the teacher would just spend FIVE MINUTES explaining the difference between moving the mouse, and a click-drag, and a click and double-click...
It would make a world of difference...

BUT... instead, they ask for software to do it for them...
So, I look for software...
Such is my place on the totem pole here.

Tell the teacher to ask if any of the kids already KNOW how to use a mouse - I'm sure she''ll have a few that do and are more than willing to teach the others. Good self-esteem builder for the "demonstrators"
