Where do you get your photos printed?

I'm curious where people get their digital photos printed. A friend is asking me about buying a printer but I think she'd be better off finding a good (and cheap) lab.

Costco, over the internet. (You must be a member.) 17cent photos, free shipping, great quality, speedy turnaround, moneyback guarantee. Can't be beat.

We use an Epson Picturemate, not as cheap as having them done elsewhere, but a lot of fun especially if you have kids. We took our daughter and her friends to the county fair a few weeks ago, then came home and let them print out the photos they wanted, they had a lot of fun picking, cropping and printing the photos. I think it averages about $0.25 per print.

Quality matters. The prints are 42 cents each, but they are high-quality photographs. And I only print the ones I really want.

I've gone to Walmart & Walgreens for 4x6s and prefer Walgreen a lot more. One possible issue at Walgreens is if the person printing thinks that the images are not by you but by some "professional" and won't print them! It helps to build up a relationship with at least one of the folks behind the counter.

I've also had to bring a usb card reader with me as their computer/readers have been picky at times.

One other trick I've noticed is that their computer shows twice as many images as are on the card. The first group shown on their screen have a dot in front of the name (.IMG_2743) - these do not print the true image, so I go for the second half without the dot (IMG_2743).

Costco. Send them in online at night, then pick them up at the store on the way home the next day.

Costco if I've got a bunch and/or can wait a while for shipping; the local Walmart if there are few or I want them in an hour.

CostCo--always.
They'll do 12 x 18" for $2.89 and 20 x 30" for $9.95
You cannot print them at home for that price.
And the quality is superb.

I am getting ready to print a memorial album of my late wife via Costco. I have a friend who is a pro photographer and he prints his shots thru Costco, then sells them for amazing markup. They are THAT good. You can also upload color profiles if desired for even more control.
