I have a Plantronics which is pretty good, but it seems the LG's get better reviews: [www.amazon.com]

Bluetooth gets a bad rap for sound quality because everyone is used to crappy one ear pieces. The A2DP standard allows for bitrates of 320kbps which is quite good. If you look at any of my previous posts you will see that I am quite picky about audio quality and I think 320kbps is good enough for almost all uses.

I own the Sennheiser MM100 stereo bluetooth headset which originally sold for over $160 and is now selling for a bargain price of $85. I assume they are being blown out. I can vouch for their excellent sound quality. There are other headphones selling for much much more money so it's all about how much you want to spend. :-)

Here is some more information regarding bitrate possibilities with A2DP. [soundexpert.org]

It’s worth to add that A2DP limits the available maximum bit rate to 320 kbps for mono and to 512 kbps for stereo modes allowing the use of many other codecs besides SBC. So audio manufacturers (of headphones especially) have wide choice of compression technologies capable of delivering high definition sound through the wireless digital channel at reasonable cost.

I read over some of the MM100 reviews and I suspect many of the negative reviews are from non-IOS users. I've used my headphones with each of my IOS devices and I've never had a problem.

I wish I knew what the issue is with BT headphones and why they cant sound good for cheaper.

Ive got BT in my car and often play Pandora thru the stereo via BT -- its sounds awesome. Same thing at home in my garage running via Griffin Bluetrip and an old boom box. Music sounds awesome.

But Ive never seen anyone rave about BT headphones.

In your car the amplification and speakers are part of the car so the bluetooth receiver can be inexpensive. Same at home. In the case of headphones they must combine the bluetooth receiver, amplification and decent headphone's into one package. It's amazing they can do it. I have a pair of Sony's that cost about $60 and they have been reliable and mediocre sounding. The Sennheiser's are much better.

I like to use my cheaper Sony's when I am at the gym and I like the Sennheiser for at home. I would be curious to know what you decide to buy and how it works out for you.
