8 epsodes into Homeland

Typically I save my holing up with TV drama for wintertime but I seem to be spending most of my free time trying to sleep off a cold lately...
Anyways.... good show. Like "24" only the supporting roles tend to be better acted/less throw-away, and you don't have the comic-book vibe of having a "super-hero" like Jack Bauer.
I did a little search on Mandy Patinkin...
[en.wikipedia.org]
I keep feeling like he's just a little too good to be wasting his talent on a series of this nature.
OK, funny, I just thought to turn on the Emmys and there's Claire Dane alongside Bryan Cranston (now I know her name.)
Who else follows this one?

Love Homeland. Anxious for the new season to start! All the characters get on my nerves from time to time but they all manage to redeem themselves quickly. smiling smiley

Never watched 24, so I can't draw any comparisons.

I am waiting on Season 2 from the library, then will watch S1 & S2 back to back.

Mandy P was Inigo Montoya in princess bride. Also Gideon, the original head of the unit on Criminal Minds. Great actor with presence.

Don't forget Evita on Broadway.

Or my favorite, Avigdor in "Yentl." Then he started getting annoying to me in "Chicago Hope," though was probably more the fault of the writers than his performances.

He apparently got a little weird during Criminal Minds.

Didn't comeback for the next season, couldn't be contacted, wouldn't talk to anybody. It didn't seem like a tactic for a raise.

Good job recreating the wikipedia article bit by bit, but some pretty major details missing (especially the reason he left Criminal Minds, which I think is especially endearing.)

Thank you, thank you.

It's pretty obvious I didn't read the Wiki. I even knew he was Inigo and 88 Keys. Having consulted Wiki at your oh-so-subtle suggestion, I see that a reason was given for is departure and behavior. Almost life imitating art.

I recall, that at the time however, Thomas Gibson had made a statement that basically said Patinkin was MIA and had not shown up as expected. This seems to be contrary to leaving letters to cast members two weeks in advance.

Mystery solve.

I dunno, the second season was great as well.

Can't wait for the 3rd season premiere next Sunday - We're hosting a mini premiere party.

I wouldn't call it great.

It tended to fall into the same traps that 24 did.

Saw that in Chicago (his home town). He was AMAZING.

Other than some previews and promos, I haven't seen Homeland at all but I still thought SNL's spoof was great. [www.youtube.com]

Don't forget Dead Like Me.

+1 I really liked Dead Like Me.

I liked Homeland, only seen the first season. I can see where it might be hard to figure out where to go after first season. Good show, but a little hard to watch at times. I liked whats-her-name in Firefly, but not so much in Homeland (Some terrible acting, I think). I've been a fan of Damian Lewis since seeing Band of Brothers and especially Life. Not as endearing in this one though! kj.
