Okay, since I can't install iTunes on my work PCs, the next option is to find a small, portable lightning speaker dock for my iPhone 5. I need to be able to easily take this from hospital to hospital, depending on which hospital I'm covering for the week.

I'd prefer something with a lightning connector so the iPhone can be charging while it's playing music all day long. I'd rather not go the bluetooth route b/c of the lack of charging capability, etc.

Any suggestions in the $50-ish range?

I vaguely remember that RadioShack has a product by JBL called the OnBeat (has Lightning connector) on clearance now for $42-$52. You'll have to call your local RS and ask them for Catalog # 4000436 (or u can ask for it by name). If that particular store doesn't have it, ask them which nearby stores do, as you're bound to find one.

One thing to be aware of is that unless you have a very minimal iPhone case (or no case), you'll most likely have to remove your iPhone case to use a lightning dock.

I have yet to find a case that I feel provides sufficient drop protection and also works with a speaker dock.

I go naked, so shouldn't be an issue. But, thanks for bringing it up.
