Pick an iPad Air over an 11" Macbook Air if not really into content creation?

A 128GB cellular iPad Air will cost you a little less than $1000 whereas a 128GB 11" Macbook Air will cost you $999.

If you're not too heavy into content creation but are into content consumption, would you consider getting the iPad over the Macbook?

Here's a comparison of sorts:

Obviously, you have to be the right person to be able to pull this off...again, you would care about content consumption but not creation. So, for students this is a no go. But, if one really only uses his/her laptop for email, web, office-type apps, videos, music, then the iPad Air with an attached bluetooth keyboard could be ideal.

I am still in awe of my 11" Air-- it's just a great piece of technology. That is all I have to say.

Then if thats all you do, no idea why you would need 128GB or cellular. Although you threw "office type apps" in there -- and that can vary wildly.

I would. I have the 64GB iPad cellular 3rd gen and I use it quite a lot, even some light content creation (I edited a video using Avid, (now Pinnacle) Studio. I want to move to the 128GB w/ cellular, but at the present time, can't.

I have quite a few apps, plus I like carrying my music collection with me, my 64GB is full, I constantly have to look at what I really don't want / don't use to free up space.

I like having the cellular, I can sign up for service when I want to, and an either renew it or let it lapse and then sign up again at a later date. It comes in handy if I'm traveling, or if I am sitting in my car waiting for someone, I can surf, check e-mail, and more. The iPad can be used as a hotspot, this came in handy when we were at a festival, and the higher-end hotel wanted $10/day for wi-fi. I set up my iPad as a hotspot, and my nephews and their friends came to our room to use their Macbook Pros to get online.

I've been using Google Docs a lot, and even using the Google Drive app, I couldn't imagine editing a spreadsheet with an iPad.

Same for iPhoto, importing, managing photos on a trip is Much better on an MacBook Air.

I can't imagine doing any significant amount of text entry on my iPad, much as I love it. I wonder why Apple hasn't addressed the painful shortcomings of its virtual keyboard.

I like the keyboard that Textastic provides, and would like to see something similar available system-wide. As for anything but the most rudimentary photo manipulation or management: no, not on an iPad.
