About backing up my iPad...

Long story short...

My Gen 1 32G iPad was backed up to a computer that had its drive re-formated.

Other than iCloud (with its 5G limit, can I add it to a another computer and back it up there, then use that BU on the new 'Pad?

That seems too easy.

I think that if you connect it to another iTunes library it won't back it up, but wipe it. Try it, you can hit Cancel before anything happens. Or the "go" button once you realize there's no alternative ...

RAM,

This is why I pay the bucks for increased iCloud storage. The amount of money I had to spend for the extra storage is a worthwhile investment. It'd be different if it was super expensive. In this case, it's really pretty cheap.

Now, I do automatic backups to iCloud and manual backups to the local computer. That way, if one system fails, at least I have a fallback option. 'course, that I backup the computer backups is a different matter entirely. One way or the other, I can restore the ipad. Same goes for my iPhone.
