Kinda complicated, but I'm trying to get my wife's iMac G5(with 10.4) to recognize the Canon S750 that I have on our network (via a USB print server). The printer/print server works fine on our 2 Windows XP machines and it works fine connected directly to her iMac via USB cables.

I have the Printer Setup Utility configured for the S750 as a USB printer but when I configure an IP printer (with the IP address of the print server), it only shows the "stock" printer drivers, which are all GIMP print 5.00 (I think) and it doesn't list the S750 anyway. There is a "more printers" button that I found that opens up a new window to search for the driver (I think), but I can't locate it.

Help! I don't want to have to buy a new printer. I tried Apple online support chat, but they said to contact Canon to make sure the drivers support 10.4 (the guy didn't understand what I was trying to do). So, I figured I'd ask the real experts here. Thanks.

My latest install of Tiger on my G4 1.8GHz DP ( Giga Design) has Canon printer drivers, so you should be able to hook up with your printer by following the above route. Funny thing that I should have those Canon drivers...I specifically unchecked every printer driver but Epson when I did the install. Go figure.

Try using spotlight, searching for your printer name OR model.

Try selecting a GIMP Print driver for a similar Canon printer such as the S800, S820, 8200, etc.
