New behavior in Mavericks? "Hide others..."

In 10.8 & prior, if I had an app open and wanted to hide everything else, I could command + option + click the app's Dock icon, and all other apps would hide. I'm finding this doesn't work in Mavericks.

Likewise, if you option-click the icon in the Dock, and select "Hide Others", nothing happens.

The only way I find I can hide other apps is by clicking on the app's name in the menu bar, and then selecting "Hide Others..."

Is this just happening to me or can any other 10.9 users confirm this? (FWIW, have done all the usual things; rebooted, repaired permissions, etc.)

I just checked. If the app you want to bring to the front is NOT currently the frontmost app, you can CMD-OPT-click on any open window and that will bring that app to the front and hide all others.

edit: I never use the dock, so I didn't try it at first, but the thingy that you are unable to do, I AM able to do. CMD-OPT-clicking on a dock icon brings that app to the front and hides all others.

MBPR13 running 10.9

Perhaps one of your modifier keys is whacked???

Just tried it in 10.9. Control click on icon of active app in the dock, I get menu to open new window, show all windows, options (Keep in Dock, etc.) but no "Hide Others". Hide is dimmed out.

Command click shows the app in Finder.

Option click - nothing.

Option - command click th icon - Hides other apps.

I doing this to the Firefox icon with mail open in the bkground.

Works fine here, i.e. exactly as it always has.

Public humiliation works, I imagine; after what was probably the fourth or fifth restart, behavior is the same as it ever was. I'll have to keep an eye on it, maybe one of my add-on apps is causing some issues.

Thanks, eh?
