And in the process, they beat the record and had a great workout as well!

If the big cats are only killing one of of every ten goats, I'm not sure that needs human intervention.

Dayum. Chased down the fastest cat in the world , on foot. Them caught them ( probably while the Kittehs were napping).

This is the definition of bad-ass

This. I don't think Silvarios and Kap understand the value of one goat to a Kenyan who has precious little to spare.

I must admit you're bringing up a good point. Having been living in the land of plenty (compared to poverish nations) I slipped. Thanks for the reminder tho'. What incredible about this story is the humane side of the farmers and his friends. They could have easily set a trap, poisoned or shot the big cats which we commonly pratice here.

Fastest cat, yes, but few mammals can match human endurance. That is one of our great physical advantages.

I was being pedantic. Decimate, at one time anyway, meant to kill every tenth soldier. I could not make any kind of actual judgement on the content of the link since I didn't click through.

Their hunting method has been widely used forever. As a species we've got much better endurance then most prey species that have evolved for fast getaways from predators. Bushman still use the technique to run down various prey species, but it generally takes longer. Cheetahs are fast out of the gate but tire quickly.

Cheetahs are sprinters; not marathoners. I have read that after catching their preys they have to catch their breath before devouring their meal. During that brief period of time other predators could either kill the Cheetahs or steal their food. It's one of the causes of their starvation.

I thought you were being funny, and immediately knew what would happen. LOL

Cheetahs are sprinters

The article was, like much of Internet "news", misleading.

These guys did run down the cheetah, but they didn't outrun it. kap is correct. Every nature (and Nature) show I've seen about cheetahs shows them resting up after a kill, if it's gone any distance. They comment on getting 211ed for their catch, but I haven't seen that yet. Must really tick the cheetahs off.

I don't think there is a human who is capable of reaching 65 mph in 3 seconds yet!
