Couldn't motivate myself to leave the house today. I can't shake the feeling that I failed somehow when that happens, unless I'm trying to sleep off a flu or something....

So have a poll.

I know what you mean, even the vague feeling of guilt. I talk about how much it means to me to live in the downtown of a great city—but in fact I seldom actually go to any of the museums or galleries or libraries. Especially in the winter, when cycling around aimlessly doesn't seem like much fun, and working from home these days, whole weeks go by that I have to remember to go down to the lobby to get the junk mail.

I'm self-employed and work from home if I want to so I'm not sure where that lands in this all inclusive survey.

I keep little food in the house. This ensures that I leave for sustenance.

Being a smoker would probably play a role as well.

Well, I couldn't do it. I went to mail a package and go look at the dryer situation.. cleaned up a bit. Nice and crisp out there, and not a soul stirring.

If you consider going into the yard a couple of times to get firewood staying inside, then in stayed inside.

I totally know what you mean. Now that I'm self employed again, I have to push myself to leave the apartment on the days I work from home. Just to run an errand or have lunch away from my computer.

Another self employed WAH type. But, I swear to God, if I had to do the commute drive I'd be in jail because I would've killed some @#$%&hole driver by now. Those days when I have to see clients first thing in the morning just make me nuts. It is a wonder to me more people don't die everyday due to accidents or road rage...

If I didn't have the dog, there would probably be many days I'd stay inside all day. Especially cold wintery days! I'd have no problem with that at all.

FWIW, I'm single, live alone and am self employed so I'm home more than most anyway and if I hibernate, nobody else is impacted.

I did stay inside Saturday. And stayed much of the day in bed with mrs.cbelt3 and Chihuahuas. It was snuggle weather outside.

If it's dreary, I stay inside.

Unless there's a good reason to venture out. If it's raining, I sleep. I love falling asleep to the sound of rain, and waking up to it and going back to sleep.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but the idea of not setting foot outside all day long is unimaginable to me unless I'm really, really ill.

Perhaps this forum is a lot older than I thought - I find the numbers to be very surprising.

How old did you think it was?
With a few exceptions the youngest of the regulars are in their late 40s, and most are in their 50s-60s-70s.

The under forty kids, microchip excepted, are on social media. A lot more interactive than old foggy forums like this. We're a leftover from the previous century.
