USB 1.1 and 2.0 Speed Issue
Posted by: wowzer

I recall reading something about USB 1.1 and 2.0 speed compatibility issues. Specifically that if you plug a 1.1 device on a 2.0 hub/usb card, all the other devices (which may be 2.0) have to run at 1.1 speeds. Is this correct?

I know that if I use a 1.1 hub on a 2.0 port (computer), it will slow to 1.1 speeds. But does that mean other devices on the same computer will run at 1.1 speeds too?

Thanks.

You are right about the Hub.....

But - there is no 'global' speed reduction caused when you connect a USB 1.1 device into a 2.0 Hub. Other 2.0 devices connected to that hub will still operate at their normal 2.0 speed. smiling smiley
