I picked this up cheap on ebay (hasn't arrived yet). It's a 09-10 macbook with a touch screen and is used for speech creation - has lots of preset phrases and can be used with a telephone.

I always liked these macbook and fig'd that I could just wipe it and find a use for it, but I'm seeing people trying to sell these things for $1000s. Looks like it might have had an original price of over $5000. Of course, the iPhone and iPad and custom apps must have completely torpedoed this thing.

But I wonder if there is something spiffy I might be able to create with it... anyone ever see one of these? any ideas of what I might be able to do with it?

Set it up for someone who is disabled/has a learning disability. I know a little girl with Down's Syndrome who would rock that thing.

What OS is it running? Looks like Classic OS 9 (or earlier).

It arrived today - what you are seeing is just an app running on top of 10.6.4 with LOTS of parental control. Looks like I messed up the software when I broke into the admin account. Oh well...
