Hah! In an effort to green up my entry way I bought some bamboo from amazon. There are two bunches of ten stalks. They arrived today and look great but there were no instructions. I'm googling but would love some advice as well. Thanks.

I don't think "lucky bamboo" is actual bamboo.

Here's the best advice I can give you. Go to a craft store and buy a small bag of water beads. They're tiny little beads that grow to like 100 times their size when soaked in water. Put the beads in the bottom of a tall vase, add a little bit more water, and put the bamboo in it. When the water level gets low, add a little more water.

Build a car, hut, it has a thousand and one uses.

FYI: That is "lucky bamboo." It doesn't need special care, but I think it likes partial sun. Mine did okay for a couple years in just some plant soil gel with a few charcoal chips to keep the water sweet.

Be careful! Bamboo can be VERY invasive and, easily spread to places you don't want it. Once so established, bamboo can be almost impossible to eradicate.

Wife loves theses. They are pretty hard to kill on purpose.
Never direct sunlight, they will die. Indirect sunlight or indoor lighting is all they need. After a few years if they may develop a fungus that will turn it black inside and out.

These are sold at my local grocery store in small ceramic planters and sometimes the dollar store in tubes. If you are creative and have time, you can make them grown in any shape you want.

Thanks for all the extra info! How big do you think they will get?

The largest we ever had was between 2.5 - 3 feet.
After about a year, their leaves get really long. Of the last two we had, the younger plant had developed the black fungus/algae and was about to die. The other older one was just getting too big and the wife tossed it.
