Any way to recover emails from deleted email account?

Okay, I just goofed up. I was having trouble getting email from my domain in Apple Mail. I am running Mavericks (10.9.2) and had been set up using POP for years. The last three days, I had to contact my Web host because I couldn't get my email through Apple Mail. After reading their information about configuring Apple Mail, I decided to change the email account to IMAP. In my infinite wisdom, I deleted the POP account so I wouldn't be confused about the email. I didn't think it would delete everything in my inbox and sent folders. I have a backup but it's about a week old so I will have lost recent emails.

First question, is there any chance the current emails are stored in a folder somewhere on my Mac? If not, how do I reintroduce the emails that are on my backup drive? (At least, I'd have most of them back.)

They may still be in the mail folder in your user library folder.

Where exactly is that? My User folder has no Library folder, just a folder called "lib" with some ".dylib" items in there. My system Library folder has no Mail folder in there.

Click on Go and hold the option key down and your library will show up.

The data might be still on the remote pop server, depending on the provider's defaults. Try accessing via webmail, or just re-entering the original pop credentials and server ports in the mail client and see what happens.

~/Library/Mail

If your POP account data is still present then it will be clearly identified by the name of the folder inside of the Mail folder and your mail can be imported into Apple Mail from the .mbox files within the folder.

If that data is absent then you can recover it from your backup in a similar fashion. (Exact method may vary depending upon whether you used Time Machine or made a clone.)

If you have not emptied the Trash in your deleted Mail account, they may still be available in your ~/Library/Mail folder.

I think I will just put an OUT OF ORDER
