Apple to layoff 16,000 workers

Not Apple, but HP. No one would bat an eye if the subject was accurately stated. If it was Apple, would it be beleaguered?

"Thursday Hewlett-Packard announced that it plans to cut an additional 11,000 to 16,000 jobs as part of its restructuring, and Wall Street reacted with glee. The company’s stock is up more than 6 percent on Friday, trading at nearly $34 per share as of 12:30 p.m Eastern. If the stock can stay at its current price all day, it will be the highest close for HP stock since 2011."

I have friends that work at HP. I hope it doesn't affect them.

It probably will one way or another.

I'm texting and emailing 'em. One designer friend has only been there about a year. We had a party.

Yes, very beleaguered. And instead of the stock rising 6%, it would drop 15%.

Hopefully they're not going to get rid of their calculator division.

I don't know what I would do without RPN calculators.

I'm amazed Apple didn't have to lay off more workers than you show given their recent earnings report...

Ok, ya got me.

I thought maybe Apple was replacing their retail employees with androids.

This is old news. After HP acquired Apple in 1989, they gutted the development of everything but RISC, started layoffs, pissed off the old Apple customers, and eventually folded the whole disaster. Some claim that HP bought Apple just so that they could put it out of business, since Apple...

wait...

Apollo. That's it. Let's start again:

I think we should take this thread to several hundred responses, so we can start the viral message that Apple fired 16000 workers!
