Does anyone have a use for USB 2 hubs anymore?
Posted by: Black

I am about to go all-USB3 on my hubs, leaving me with two working/used USB 2.0 hubs and two unused/still in sealed package USB hubs. All powered, 7-port-ish.
Wondering if it's worth the effort to try to sell the whole lot on eBay.... is there conceivably anyone out there who would still have a use for 4 of these?
thx

Also-- I saw an Amazon "answered question" that stated that the slowest USB device pulls the rest of the chain down to that speed....that's wrong, right?
I was thinking of having a USB 3 hub coming directly off the mac, and then a USB2 hub coming off of that for the devices that don't need USB3.

I'm sure that anyone who doesn't have USB 3 on their computer would have a use for them.

My one and only hub is from USB1 days. Still does what I need. Sell them on eBay.

In the USB2 days, if you plugged in a USB1 device, it brought everything down to that speed. They fixed that in the USB3 spec. No longer an issue.

I still use them. We only have one computer in the place with native USB 3. I have a CalDigit eSATA/USB3 card in the Mac Pro, but hubs and USB 3 cards don't seem to get along.

So my question is not so much whether anyone still uses them, but whether anyone still needs to acquire them, and if so, if selling the 4 as a lot would make any sense (yes, I know I'll get more selling them individually but would rather have 1/4 the hassle.)
