I have not yet seen the newest 24 but the entire show is based on completely unrealistic plot devices like this. A phone call to Chloe and she can get a full building schematic of a building Jack's in, data merged with bad guys' radios so she has a visual representation of where the baddies are, and she can send all of this instantly to Jack's phone over the SPRINT NETWORK? Doesn't get more unrealistic than that.
Jack dying and getting shot in the leg, and an hour later he's running around chasing bad guys. I mean there are so many unrealistic elements to the show in the past, that the drone thing you describe seems to be the least unrealistic thing about it! I mean we have cameras that can retroactively focus on an image today.

You had to see it. Of course you need to suspend reality to watch the whole thing, but at the same time you like to think someone somewhere along the line made an effort to have the faux-technology not just cross the line into cartoon-like fantasy.
I guess what really didn't work in that case
