About eight years ago, I was piloting a Cessna Skyhawk 172 back to Long island, NY from the Albany, NY area on July 4th. It was just after 9PM and, I was about 3000' MSL (above Mean Sea Level). It was interesting to have to look down to see the fireworks!

the platform and image stabilization is impressive as well especially considering how unstable the platform is w/o the computer controls.

Pretty neat. He really put his drone at risk of being shot down. It reminded me of what the B-24s and B-17s had to fly through over Europe.

I've been on flight during fireworks/July 4th. Pretty cool. Might be worth scheduling one JUST for this purpose.

There was a drone over the dave Matthews concert last night. It seemed to be controlled from the lawn.
Absolutely nothing security could do about it...
Hoping some footage might pop up somewhere.

The next fad will be hobbyist surface to air missiles. Guidance systems for fireworks rockets. Then the drones will develop countermeasures, and the arms race will be on.

That was great! Thank you!

For now.

But we could start with bigger drones with nets.

And lasers!

It's all fun and games until someone puts an eye out. I think the heyday for these things out in the wide open is going to be brief.

I was recently watching a demo of a drone that could land on water as a potential water sampler. The operator had to abort the mission because his pre-set instructions were accidentally sending it too close to a busy highway right next to the river back channel he was working. The abort order made the thing drop out of the sky like a rock into the water, never to be seen again.

Now, imagine one of those things dropping out of the sky on your head at a ball game.

So, how does this drone keep from getting damaged by the fireworks?

FYI last night's drove was covered in red and green lights-- was after dark. Drunken fans were referring to it as "the UFO."
