The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 Long Zoom

I say long zoom instead of superzoom because it goes to 400mm.

As the owner of a Canon SX40 I have to say that what I've read about this camera looks impressive.
It doesn't have the zoom of the Superzooms but that big 1" sensor and that lens...... but $900.

I was going to post about this camera but got busy. This may replace my d7000 and 18-270mm as my walk around camera. All that zoom range and 4k video mode, mmmmm mmmmm.

A 1080p monitor of course.

It's a lot of camera at a cheaper price point than the Sony RX10 (which has a shorter, albeit faster zoom, 24-200mm @ 2.8). Oh, looks like the price has dropped on the RX10 to $1000 (from $1300?).

It's annoying that Panasonic decided to cripple the camera with 4k at 30fps only (and no option for 24fps).

They did this to protect the GH4 and camcorders they are coming out with. Canon and Sony cripple more affordable video cameras this way also. The only company that isn't knee deep in camcorder line protection is Nikon and they don't even have a 4K offering on anything currently. Canon, Panasonic and Sony have all stepped to 4k.

I know only that the Lumix is a respectable line.

But it's one nice looking camera.

Not a "feature" listed in any review, but I sure is a good looking camera.
