What say ye, Larry?
I think it would be nice to be able to offer one's used stuff to forum members here, however, I could see it become a nightmare if spammers all of a sudden flood this place. Who's going to manage it? What are the criteria for posting? Membership only? Membership for 3 months? a year? Must have x-amount of posts to not qualify as a spammer?

Once you find a suitable place, how much will you list it for?

This forum attracts no new members so I think most of this is moot.

My suggestion: Try a Trading Post for a while and see how it works. If it becomes 'a nightmare', close it down. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."

I think this is a good idea. I would welcome this.
Perhaps also, set a threshold on post count before you can post to that forum.

Is that in itself potentially a problem? Would our sponsors prefer a growing Forum to a static or declining one?
As for competition with OWC, I don't think members trading used (and often obsolete) computer hardware and other items would be viewed as 'competition'. Folks here post deals from outfits which definitely do compete with OWC, with no complaints that I am aware of.
This is a membership group, with volunteer moderators, so I'd assume the moderators could simply ban someone identified as a 'spammer'.

No way to know. My best guess is that the sponsor doesn't see this forum as adding any value, and sees the resources devoted to it as a drain.Quote
