the one you use the most, the one you print most often. If you have multiple choice, just pick one. WT heck, this is not a scientific poll. I tried to list a few that came to mind in alphabetical order.

Brother MFC-J825DW. Paid less that $100 over a year ago. Works well with inexpensive generic ink cartridges. WiFi, ethernet, USB connections; memory card reader, document feeder, duplex operation, touch screen. Lots to love.

I use a Brother laser printer for the usual 8.5x11 B&W copies and I have an Epson 4880 for making art prints.

Which generic inks are you using and are they trouble free for you? How does the color compare to the Epson inks?

Using the our new Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4630 and love it, super fast.

On generic ink. Our Epson Artisan 837 was fine until we ran about 2 or 3 sets of generics from a seller on
Amazon. I'm pretty convinced that's what clogged up the Black nozzles. It was used nearly every day sometimes
as many as 40-50 pages per day sometimes as few 1 or 2.

As far as color printing with generics, I couldn't tell any difference quality wise when printing photos but then
the black clogged.

We have quite a few HP printers with over a half a million pages on them at work. There is also a Xerox Workcentre with over 350k.

This has been my experience with Epson printers for years and years!

I used to think the issue was cheap third party ink.

Then, since I received a settlement from Epson, I purchased a ton of Epson genuine ink cartridges. When my Epson inkjet clogged from ONLY using genuine Epson ink (and no amount of cleaning would get them unclogged), it became my LAST Epson.

Switched to HP inkjet - was terrible despite our paying $300 for it.

The Brother we have was the first accessible (<$1000 consumer color laser) printer for home, it's not perfect by any means. But the priorities (like the very cool iOS app to control it) are spot on. Decent color printing that's not too expensive, two-page printing and scanning. Came with wifi (tho we use ethernet now).

Canon Pixma iP 6000D. Bought it after a forum posting it out as one of the last Canons that had non-chipped cartridges.

Runs like a champ on 3rd party ink bought from Amazon.

Also have run a succession of office-grade HP lasers (5Si, 8000N) picked up for free off of Craigslist. Looking for another one...wasn't cost-effective to tote the one I had along the last time I moved.

Brother MFC 7840W - wha' a workhorse! Got on craigslist 4 years ago for $100, and heavily used! Love that printer. Also a Canon MP970 for color. But, I'm a printer nut, always looking for something better! My old name here was LaserKun, laser because l only used lasers back in the day. Wish I still had my LaserWriter 16/600.

Samsung 1710 laser? (it's upstairs, not too sure of the model).

It's B/W only, but has been a real champ using it for my small biz. I've had it for years without any problems. Well, almost trouble free. Samsung doesn't support Macs with this model, so getting a driver to work has been somewhat of a problem, (especially since Lion came along), but I've got it humming now.

I keep telling myself its time for an upgrade to a color laser, but I tend to use stuff right up till it dies.

It's no 16/600, though.

We had several HP-5000N models at work that had millions of jobs through them. We to have rebuild kits installed almost annually. We finally retired it because it was comparatively slow to newer printers. Even though it was still working fine, people felt it was unbearably slow. When I was still working in IT, I kept the retired HP 5000N in the closet and frequently pulled it out to cover for other fallen soldiers until a replacement or repairs could be secured. My replacement finally put them out to pasture.

If we can't get 4-5 years out of this one that's it for me and Epson. We completely worn out an Epson 740.
It had a few clogs but was always able to get it unclogged but actually wore out the bushings that the head
rode on. We're using it enough that it shouldn't be clogging, printed over a dozen pages today.

Epson Stylus Photo 1400. 6 years and going strong. Never had a single issue with ink clogs. Probably has close to 3000 photo prints put through it, over half of them 11x14 and 13x19.

Oh I know they are but they also print the best looking photos IMO. The 837 was the first Epson I haven't
been able to unclog. I've always been an advocate of use them or lose them when it comes to Epsons.
