Previously I have had my RePlay unit hooked up to a phone line for updating. I have relocated and do not wish to have a land line phone. Is there a way of hooking up the Replay unit to my Pismo and updating through the wireless connection to my cable modem???

Or, am I stuck with having to get a land line? I do not want to string an ethernet cable through three rooms to get to the wireless router.

I'm reasonably certain you can just hook the Replay up to its own wireless router to communicate with your router. That way you won't even have to get the Pismo involved (though you will be able to download shows to the Pismo via the free dvarchive software. There are some threads about doing this at [www.avsforum.com]

Be aware that the search function is funky at that site. You have to jump through a couple of hoops to make it search back more than the "current thread" which covers only the last few days.

If your router supports WDS (wireless bridging), you can bridge two together and hook the other up to the ReplayTV. The schedule updates are much faster that way and you can pull shows off the Replay onto your laptop using DVArchive, as mentioned above.

I have 3 Buffalo routers that are bridged together. One is connected to my cable modem and the other two are connected to my ReplayTV units. I can also stream shows from one to the other that way also.

AVSForum is a great resource.

I use my Airport Express for connecting to my Replaytv, since my AEx is sitting on the shelf next to the replaytv. The AEx is wirelessly extending the range of my router, and connected to my surround sound system to stream music from my mac, and then I have a short ethernet cable connecting the port on the AEx to the replaytv. Works great!
