for those who regreat upgrading to 7, and did upgrade to 8, what do you think about it? better than 7? even better than 6?

just to make it clear, did you like 7 less than 6? would you have gone back to 6 if Apple allowed it?

Fixes just about all of my gripes specific to iOS 7 and makes drastic improvements to Siri.

If you're on iOS 7, it's a no-brainer for all compatible devices excepting the iPad2 and iPhone 4S. Those devices take an extra few seconds to launch apps under iOS 8, and the in-between animations are a little choppy, but once the apps are launched they seem to run perfectly well.

If you haven't got a phone with Siri, now's a good time to upgrade. It's gotten to the point where it's a mature product and very useful... "Hey Siri" in the car is f-ing awesome.

I find some of the new Safari bookmark behaviors on the iPad annoying.

What used to only require one tap now takes two, and there is a superfluous animation.

The shrinking address bar taken from the iPhone version is unnecessary, and blunts the usefulness of the tab and bookmark bars.

I do like the new tab gestures, though.

There are some animation stutters even on an iPad air.

I think the original iPad mini is also a device that should wait to update to ios8.

Wrecked my phone's ability to communicate with my car radio via Bluetooth. Have deleted and added the phone several times. Have restarted and done a hard restart on the phone. Nothing allows it to work like it did yesterday before the iOS 8 update.

I have it on the iPhone 5 and iPad 2, I think I like it. Compared to 6, more functionality but the flat icons are still something I am getting used to. I have no regrets so far.

Full disclaimer- I like iOS 6 and 7.

Siri in the car is great, but I'm disappointed in that she sounds better than in iOS 7.

Siriously, I want the original, slightly robotic voice. I prefer Siri over Her.

Underwhelmed, personally. The marketing makes it seem like we can walk on water once we download it but I don't find much difference, overall, even though some things like predictive text and the new features in texting are nice..

I seem to remember predictive text with my Droid X and the swipe texting was great. And I'm still waiting for forward delete.

I have the same gear that Price Cube has, and I think it has slowed both of them down. (iPhone 5 and iPad 2)

Using iOS 8 for the for the first time...on my mom's iPhone 6.

I have iOS 6 running on my iPhone 5. Planning on going to a 128GB iPhone 6 myself soon.

iOS 8 is my first experience with the new 'flat' OS and other features of iOS 8. One gripe is that I don't like the fact that in Settings, the slider switches now switch with just a tap (made me accidentally change settings while haphazardly/lazily scrolling up and down the settings list). Another is while looking at the icons along the bottom edge of the Phone app, it is harder to distinguish/make out what they are.

I can get around iOS 8 (and so it's intuitive enough I suppose) but the overall interface so far (the lack of 3D for perspective) makes me take a little longer to get around.

My first impressions thus far are iOS 8 is a small step backward in interface design (note I am not referring to the capabilities of the iOS 8 software).

Jony Ive should have stuck to hardware design.


P.S. - Just a correction....I noticed in iOS 6 that tapping on a slider switch will also toggle it. I guess what I meant to say earlier is that in iOS 8, just sliding your finger accidentally over the switch toggles it, which is annoying.
