Rush hour on 405 from Bellevue north to I-5?

We're taking our daughter up to Bellingham today from Spokane. Any hints on what we can expect the traffic to be like along 405 between 6 and 7 PM tonight? Will it have slacked off some by then? Or would we be better off taking HWY 2, which hits I-5 at Everett. The time difference from Google Maps is about 30 minutes.

Very strange, BTW, having our little girl packing to leave home. Bittersweet.

That is an ugly time to go through Issaquah to Bellevue to Everett. Hwy 2 might be a good choice, just from a frustration factor.

Or try an hour later. Between 3-6 or so is downright ugly, especially on a Friday.

What does Google Maps say about 90 to 97 then west on 2?

For Southern Californians referring to the 405 is an expletive best left unstated. We're all yearning for the return of Carmegeddon.

2 would be my choice, or wait until about 7.

Hwy 2 would be a known quantity. 405 would be a roll of the dice. I'd take Hwy 2.

more interesting drive too. Could be blasting in the pass on 90 as well.

I remember the only time I drove by myself through LA I was on the 405 at 3PM on a Friday just after a rainstorm in December. It took TWO HOURS to go 5 miles. I actually got out and started pushing the rental car. I vowed never to go that way again.

Funny about 405 in So Cal. I have vague nightmarish memories of driving there, and now that yous mention it, I was on the 405.

I love the Hwy 2 route because of all the evidence of the Missoula Floods during the ice ages.

Looks like we'll take two. Thanks, y'all. T for 2.

Traffic will totally suck from Bellevue to Marysville and maybe even north of Arlington
You should be better off taking Hwy2 unless the is still construction going on.
You will still hit I5 traffic from Everett north.
Maybe stop in Everett for dinner?

Well I just did 405 Bellevue to I-5N at 6 PM and traffic was pretty light, as is often the case at this time of Fridays. Earlier (3:30-5:30) it is very bad. Hwy 2 is much more scenic of course, pretty much anytime.

Anyway hope you had a good trip to Bellingham and good luck to your daughter. (Western?)
and while there I highly recommend this crepe place called agdalena's in Fairhaven.
Also recommend the Chuckanut Drive for beautiful views, it's just around 18 miles long, out of the Fairhaven district then connects with I-5.

Take 405 until you get to the Slauson Cutoff. Get out, cut off your Slauson, and then head South.
