My iPhone 6 mega is still backordered, so I have to live vicariously through you!

Was planning to buy the 6 Plus 'mega'... all talked into it... And the Barton Creek/S. Austin Apple Store had what I wanted when I arrived about 4:30PM today to get my 'reservation'. After playing with the 6 and 6 plus for about 10 minutes - the mega was out an the 'standard' 6 with 4.7" was my 'final answer'. No compromises, got exactly what I wanted and have a phone that i can still fully operate only using one hand. The 6 Plus 'mega' is an awesome device... but a lot of stuff will require two hands where one can reach to the top on the 4.7" model. Both have beautiful displays and the 4.7" is perfect size imho.

Got my preordered iPhone 6 plus yesterday. This is my first iPhone, as a long time Apple user (1986), I often had to explain why I didn't have a iPhone or at least a smartphone. Wonderful piece of kit! Oh and it is a 64Gb in space grey.

Eventually, I will succumb to the Plus. But that is at least a year away . . . come on 7 . . .

I'm going to try a mega in person next week. I do understand that it'll be two- handed. But I thought I'd give it a try for two reasons: my vision sucks these days, and the reports indicate that the 6 has no better battery life than the 5S. I need a battery case in this 5S to last all day.

So the choice was either a 6 in a large battery case - likely making it too big to really be one-handed, or to try the 6+ in a minimal case thanks to the bigger built-in battery (these options weigh about the same).

It won't be objective, as I'm sure it's much larger than what I want to carry in a pocket. I just need to be able to say I saw it.

Even the 6 will probably be larger than I want, but the handwriting is on the wall; the 5s form factor probably won't get any hardware upgrades. It looks like the 6s' upgrades need every bit of extra room.

Size aside, I like the look of the 6 but there's not much compelling me this time, so maybe when the 6s is out…

I tend to think that we've pretty much reached a feature plateau where there will be tweaks that some like and some don't care about, but no real "killer" feature.

TouchID was it for me, and now it's longer battery life.

And controlling my flying car.

No question that smart phones are a mature platform.

portable slab with multitouch
camera(s)
cellular and wifi antennae
App store ecosystem for easy software install

Some differentiating factors now:
biometric identity for two-factor authentication and related security
How payment systems work
Cloud services (ie google now, siri, whatever microsoft builds)

Highly recommend going and trying theml out - yes, in store demo units

Nice. I have a good friend who picked up the space grey 6, I'll get to try that out Mon.

As for the rest, you are making feel OLD! I'm pretty sure we are about the same age, Larry. Though I have been pretty near-sighted for the last 30 years. The 40-something vision transition just sucks.

I waited to play with them, went to the store today, definitely want the 6+. I don't really feel its all THAT big, and I love the idea of a longer battery life not to mention optical image stabilization.

And the reality is, I've never mastered the whole one hand thing, I almost always use 2 hands with my 5S. The only real exception is when I'm talking on the phone, but I'll just have to learn to deal with that.

My Wife's 6+ will be going back today, exchanged for a 6. She was really excited to have a phone with the M7 (M8?) chip to use as a pedometer.

The 6+ is too big for her pockets and won't register movement when it's not carried. We haven't tested purse movement though...

Interesting. I'm definitely getting my 6+ during a time where I can afford to test drive it hard and send it back within the 14 day return window,

I wonder whether this means Apple will have 6+ refurbs faster than usual for iPhones.

I received my pre-ordered iPhone 6 64 GB in silver. Still getting used to the size compared to the 5s. For me, the 6 plus was too big. Overall, very happy with the phone.
