My concert scene

Went to Village People and KC and the Sunshine Band this past weekend.

What I have coming up the rest of the year:

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with Steve Winwood opening up
Beck
Erasure
Black Keys
Chrissie Hynde
Fleetwood Mac

Not sure if any of the VP were original members. Their wikipedia page is too confusing to try and figure out.

KC sounded great. My brother reminded me that this was the 2nd time I've seen KC; the first being at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo sometime in the 70s apparently.

TP & The HB's will probably be a good show. Saw him twice in the 90s. I'd go see Chrissie Hynde, but only if she plays a lot of Pretenders stuff. Saw them about 10 years ago. I squeezed into my concert T from their 1984 tour and managed to be able to stand right at the front of the stage. She saw my shirt and gave me a thumbs up.

My only upcoming concerts are all "free" ones at the Epcot Food and Wine festival. Saw the Go Go's there last year. Best band slated for this year is Fuel. Will also go to see Sugar Ray (they played last year and were pretty good) and Smashmouth.

You should check out her solo debut, Stockholm. It's pretty good.

Setlist from iTunes Festival which, hopefully, will be similar to her tour setlist:

Tourniquet (Cynthia Anne)
Sweet Nuthin'
Kid (Pretenders song)
Message of Love (Pretenders song)
You Or No One
Down the Wrong Way
Talk of the Town (Pretenders song)
I Go To Sleep
Back on the Chain Gang (Pretenders song)
Dark Sunglasses
Adding the Blue
Don't Get Me Wrong (Pretenders song)
Brass in Pocket (Pretenders song)
Precious (Pretenders song)
Middle of the Road (Pretenders song)

KC was a kicking band. Cool horn arrangements.

not much on Erasure, but I really liked Yaz and Alison Moyet. What a voice!
I think most will be great. FM with Christine!

Was planning on Fleetwood Mac because a friend wants to go. I'll go see Black Keys if I win tickets....will give me another shot at Cage the Elephant. I tried to hear them from across the field at Lolla while holding on dearly to my spot close to the stage for Young the Giant, but wasn't getting much help from the other YtG attendees.

Lyle Lovett
Steely Dan (in Baltimore, just happened to be in town for work)
Keb' Mo'
Chris Isaac

Experience Hendrix show coming up tomorrow, notables include Buddy Guy and Eric Johnson.

Saw a great Buddy Guy show in Chicago back around '93 or so. Hope he's still cranking along OK. There was no way I could afford the Lovett concert here this year.

My list is always sparse although I had a fantastic time seeing Bob Mould this past Friday (St. Louis) and am going to try to make it to Benjamin Booker here next month. Chicago crew: this Saturday he's at Shubas but I think it's sold out.

Saw Pink Martini with the Von Trapp Family Singers in August. Great Show.

Will be going to Fleetwood Mac in November. Very excited to have Christine McVie back with them.

just saw that these 3 bands are touring together: Clutch, Torche, Lionize.

I like the first two quite a bit.

Prong is playing with Overkill in my area.

Buddy is still killing. We saw him at Symphony Hall last spring, and he is playing better than most guys a quarter of his age.

Lyle needs to start playing larger venues around here again. His last couple of shows at the Botanical Gardens sold out in nothing flat.

Not an overkill fan but the getting to se prong would be worth it.

Prong is doing a solo date in portland. Tommy is great. The new album is fantastic.
