Just saw GeneL's post there.
Once again, the trusty SX40! Did have to use a tripod tho. And chilly too-47º but CAFB. Orion is up which means Winter is on the way...

I couldn't find my wife's SX-40, I tried with my 7D and Tamron 18-270, and, let's just say, the results are less than spectacular. ::sigh::

It didn't help that the tripod I used was light.

On my iPhone 4 I got a vague lighter blur inside a darker blur against the blurred backdrop of tree branches and rooftops. I was pleased with the photo.

Wish I knew how to set my Canon Rebel DSLR to take night photos. I'm sure it can...

Arose at 1:30 AM PDT and drove about 65 miles to the other side of Mt. Hood. Got a few pics, really need a longer lens. Here is a link to my Dropbox gallery of pics. There is also one of the moonrise the evening before.

The zoom equivalent on the SX40 at optical limit is 840mm! I love this camera...
