I say not until there is a tick box for it. Which I think we need smiling smiley Of course that is easy to say for someone who is doing 0% of the work...

I don't think it's required, but if it makes you feel more at home, I say go ahead!

I think it would be good to mark off topic posts with "OT" so when we have the tick box it will be backwards compatible :-)

Oh puh-leeze I have been SO happy without having to listen to people complain about the OT box not being checked.

"OT" was invented to placate dealmac readers who did want non-tech, non-deal threads interrupting their day.

THIS forum, I thought, was designed to be the place where all the disgruntled dealmaccers could go to chat with each other.

WHY oh WHY do we need to introduce the "OT" crap?

I totally agree with this. There was always the fight by people who wanted the forums broken up. Always the same thing; "This is the DEAL Mac forum! Only post Mac technical questions or deals! I don't care about your dog!" These purists now have what they want over at that other place.

I think that this forum, while in its infancy, should state that its purpose is for Mac users (or anybody) to get together and discuss ANYTHING! Tips & deals and technical questions are always encouraged & welcomed, but not the only purpose.

I wasn't sure, so I put the ever-popular OT followed by a "?" smiling smiley

I never looked at it that way $tevie. You make a good argument and I agree. Not that you need my blessing. ;)

mick e agrees - To hell with the OT.

EVERYTHING HERE is either ON of OFF topic, let users attempt to determine their own perceptions by reading the subject line. (shocking concept)

OT! OT! OT!

(Just kidding...)

I kind of like the OT, but I understand and have no problem with why other people don't. If we decide here not to have it, I will probably still put it on, just for the heck of it.

Makes no difference to me. I just read the subject and decide from there if it's something I want to read. Not that I don't find what everyone has to say interesting ;)

Or we could mark stuff OT to mean ON topic! That would really be rebellious! :cD

So let me get this straight. -- when we are discussing off topic, we are really on topic.... But if we are on topic then we can't be off topic... but off topic means it isn't on topic...

uhh.. what was the topic again?
