I have 108 free songs left. Gimme some suggestions

Took advantage of the PayPal promotion to give iTunes GCs for Christmas. I've used up 22. I listen to a wide variety of music, except for maybe country and jazz. Over 40GB worth of music currently resides in iTunes. You'll find 10,000 Maniacs and 50 Cent, Atomic Kitten to My Chemical Romance. Elvis, the Beatles, Van Morrison, and Wilson Pickett are also there. As a child of the '80s, I've got the "classics" Depeche Mode, New Order, Blondie, The Fixx, and The Clash. Throw in some Hawaiian from Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and classical from Hayley Westenra and Sarah Brightman and I've got it covered.

Gimme some suggestions for new tunes to relax with, work out with, boogie down with, and everything else in between. C'mon. Help a brudda out. smiling smiley

What's the difference between reality and fiction? Fiction has to make some sense.

Mobb Deep & 50 Cent- Have a Party

Not much new stuff I've been interested in, though. I recommend finding some James Brown you might not have heard before:

[phobos.apple.com]

or The Bar-Kays, something like "Holy Ghost"

Here's some alternative rock that is not mass-market that my son is listening to. He's a musician, and like music with depth.

Dredg
Porcupine Tree
Pelican

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.

1 Giant Leap. I can't stop playing it.

Spending Time, by LeRoy Martex Bell. Smoky, rocking tune. The guy's amazing.

Release. A good way to be introduced to Afro Celt Sound System.

Mr. Chow. Acoustic Alchemy at their best.

Dancing Barefoot by Patti Smith Group. Oldie, but pretty good example of early trance rock.

Thanks WillyB! Until I read your post, I didn't know that Esquivel had done anything apart from their amazing Christmas album. I will have to check this out.

Another suggestion to add- Spoon- Gimme Fiction. Amazing album.

cheers

Esquivel was one guy. Juan Garcia Esquivel. A huge talent and nice guy. Dearly missed.

Got any classic Beach Boys? Check out some of the stuff by Of Montreal, especially their latest album, The Sunlandic Twins.

If you like any kind of post-rock or even electric-era Miles. check out Konono No. 1 (Konono N1 on iTMS), an African ensemble that plays distorted, amplified native thumb pianos.

Bummed that iTMS doesn't have any post-Virgin Records work by David Sylvian. I'm liking his new album, Snowbound Sorrow by Nine Horses.

Thankyou Silencio- that encouraged me to look up Esquivel on Wikipedia. Absolutely amazing- given the music, I had assumed that it was from a band of young ultra-hipsters. Sometimes I am so wrong I surprise even myself. I will definitely have to check out more of his music.

cheers
