Just wondering. I've followed F1 since the 1950s and have friends in the US who are fans but don't recall seeing much on here.

I used to follow Formula One when I was in Romania, it was on several TV channels, but here in US I kind of lost interest. Right now that you mentioned it, I turned on the TV Tube and I see that it is on NBC.

A friend of mine makes some parts that go into batteries used in Formula 1 cars, I didn't keep up with technology but he told me the cars are now hybrid and his parts go virtually into all F1 cars (same battery supplier) but that Mercedes has the best integration of the electric system in these cars and they always win, so there is no much fun to watch these days.

NBC is doing a tiny bit better at promoting races than FAUX had been. Oh, I've got a cap I bought at one of the last Long Beach F1 races.

I've gained some respect for F1 after seeing the movies, "1", Senna & Rush. All great movies and between the three, a darned good overall history and primer for people like me that know next to nothing about it.

I've never respected any driving as sport until seeing video shot from over Senna's shoulder as he zoomed through Monte Carlo. I gasped at the skills displayed. I always assumed that 'I could do that' - it looks so easy (especially NASCAR), but seeing Senna in Monte Carlo changed that. It's not easy... it's really, really hard.

However, I still have no interest in following the sport. It just doesn't interest me... seeing who will win the race or who will win the season... I just can't get worked up about it.

I used to. Not much time anymore. I recorded all this season until a month ago. Haven't watched any.

I loved F1 in the early 60s. I built a slot car track and a few cars in the Lotus F1 vein. Don't follow it much anymore, but admire the finesse, reflexes and endurance required of the drivers.

I saw an interview with a British driver, can't remember the name, but he'd just been in a NASCAR race on a road course and was complaining that the NASCAR drivers were all animals. Made me chuckle, thinking about the pipe-smoking, gentlemanly F1 drivers of yore.

Don't forget Mansell. F1 Champion in 1992, he took a break in the off-season, became CART Indycar Champ as a Rookie, and then returned to F1.
I'm not sure if Mansell smoked a pipe, and there are some who do not consider him a Gentleman. I liked the guy.

13 years of the CART/IRL war sapped any tolerance I have for off-track drama....which is an essential part of F1.

Time away and less familiarity with the ride buyers and teams, cookie cutter Tilke tracks in Bernie's pawn countries, and sinfully ugly cars did the rest.

TLDR - no.

I've learned that doing is much more than watching, so when my coin jar becomes full enough again, I'll be enrolling in another track course in formula cars.

I follow F1- watch as many races as I can, been watching since the 70s, but I'm an ex-pat anyway, so probably don't count. I'm pleased that the sport seems to have become more popular over here, it seems much easier to catch on TV than it was a decade ago.
