The other day there was some US mail from "LCD Indirect Class", and there was a letter dated Oct 29th with a check for $391.44 attached. Never knew what to expect from this, and that's a pretty good amount.

My letter is from the Attorney General of the State of California, and says that the settlement was $43.49 for monitors and notebook computers, and $86.98 for TVs.

Maybe there wasn't a big chunk going to lawyers on this one if it was the Attorney General that did the litigation.

2. What are the lawsuits about?
Answer:

The lawsuits claim that the Defendants conspired to fix, raise, maintain or stabilize prices of TFT-LCD Flat Panels resulting in overcharges to consumers who bought TVs, monitors or notebook computers containing the Flat Panels. The Defendants deny Plaintiffs’ allegations or that indirect purchasers suffered any overcharge.

On July 11, 2012, the Court approved Settlements totaling over $538 Million with Defendants Chimei, Chunghwa, Epson, HannStar, Hitachi, Samsung and Sharp. On April 3, 2013, the Court approved Settlements totaling $543.5 Million with Defendants AU Optronics, LG Display and Toshiba. The total amount of all 10 Settlements is $1,082,055,647.

I answered honestly, I bought a number of iBooks and PowerBooks during that time period as well as LCD monitors, and a TV.

My Quicken records are good for finding what I purchased and when. I also keep a spreadsheet of computers where I record purchase date, serial numbers, and MAC addresses as I purchase them.

I got a $130 too. great timing as i needed some cash

I agree, much better to let the huge corporations with multi-billion dollar profits illegally screw us over than for the lawyers to get a cut of the class action.

I received $608.91. And, like GGD, I also keep good records of every on-line purchase which is the only kind I do even if some were completed in-person via Craigslist (I save the postings for the items.) My records don't specify LCD but it was easy to remember which iMacs came with LCDs and, of course, all my laptops did. Then it was a matter of checking the free-standing displays which, because of my fading memory, did require a bit of referencing www.everymac.com.

Mr. Lynn, after the notice was mentioned on the forum, I looked up my purchases and easily filed an on-line claim. I then forgot about it. The arrival of the check was a pleasant reminder. Because none of the purchases was claimed as a business expense the settlement is all gravy.

too bad NJ is not included. I did not buy an LCD TV (I did buy a Plasma), but I must have bought at least 5-6 laptops during that time frame.
