Looking for this type of "rope"

probably rope is not the right word, it may be called string or cord. I have these nice blinds, about 5 year old, and the cord that you use to pull them up is wearing out. I looked at local stores (Michaels, Jo Ann) and found something with same diameter but it seems too soft and will probably wear out even faster. This one has a smooth finish, so it doesn't wear out that fast in that gear that stops the curtains from going down.

Here is a picture, best I can. What is this type of string called? where might I find some?

Might be "double" braided. Most likely nylon.

I bought a few hundred feet of this cord on Amazon a few months back. Worked great for replacing my blind cords---now we can actually raise and lower them! I think we spent like $10-$15 for a big roll which we'll keep if we need to do it again in the future.
