Where do get wedding bands that aren't made in China?

This isn't intended to be a terribly loaded question; feel free to move if it belongs on the other side.

Thanks!

I didn't realize wedding bands were marked "made in China". I guess I never thought about it....but I do know lots of jewelry is marked and made in the asian countries now...but wedding bands? where did you find them marked so? maybe at Walmart but...Well...I just don't know.....

Yes, wedding bands.

Edit: The bands aren't marked; their tags are.

They're rings you're (I'm guessin') planning on wearing for a LIFETIME...

Find a jeweler who makes rings.
Sit down and discuss a design.
Have them made.
Pay what it costs.

And every day you and MacGurl put them on or look at them, you'll know that not only is your partner the only one in the world for you, your rings are the only ones in the world like them. (yes, I'm a bit of a sap...).

Being a fan of the metal arts, I appreciate bands made of Mokume Gane for their uniqueness and artistry... (no idea if either of you would find them attractive..)

i had mine made by a jeweler, out of white gold. no more than any other wedding band of the same size.

i passed on the platinum band, since it was far more expensive and didn't look much different.

Thanks, folks.

Paul F.: Those are amazing. Can't say whether they'll fit into our budget, but they're still amazing!

My crude attempt at forging copper and nickel-silver into Mokume for a locket makes those rings look even more incredible!
Having TRIED making Mokume, the beauty of those is absolutely astounding....
Trying to get some of those materials to "stick" to each other borders on black magic.

Those are just the first few hits from Googling... I'm sure you can find better prices from other artists!

Just keep a variety of options in mind... "plain" wedding bands are so BORING! smiling smiley

That's a new on me but I'm not surprised. We bought our bands at Brendle's Catalog store 20
years ago. I had my wifes engagement ring custom made at a local jeweler from a loose .55 carat stone.

AFAIK, you can't get 24k in the US easily...but in Hong Kong and Taiwan, they use 24k all the time. I know that it's soft, but damn...24k looks much much better, IMO.

Paul, those bands are gorgeous.

I don't wear jewelry except for watches, but that could almost change my mind.

I really have a hard time telling the difference between 18K and 24K by eye. 24K is too soft for anything but bullion or collector coins IMHO.

The cost of having a wedding band made is about the same as a rebate on a Mac.

Depends on how much bling you want on it. That's what I was referring to in the earlier post.

I hope no one will take this in offense, but I noticed this thread in site traffic (anduradesign.com), and figured I'd weigh in on a couple of things said here. I'm one of the founders of Andura Design, and we do indeed forge each and every ring. We do more than just mokume gane, but haven't yet finished our designs and custom jewelry site. It's actually interesting that someone should mention 24K jewelry, since we are actually working on a line of 24K jewelry to offer on Andura, as well as palladium and carbon fiber jewelry, should anyone be interested in this, e-mail me off board, I don't want to spam here. Having made 24K rings before, I can affirm that it is very soft, and certainly not the kind of jewelry anyone with a very active lifestyle (ie, rock climbing, working on cars, etc.) would find suitable, but with a little attention to design, 24K can be perfectly wearable, although since it is so soft, rings in pure gold tend to be large and ponderous. By far the most common ring I've made in 24K is the plain wedding band. As for custom design, it's very reasonably priced (and not just us, nearly everyone, and you should shop around), mostly because we have really no significant mark up on diamonds (we charge for our work, diamonds are considered "materials" as far as we're concerned), and comparable to anything you'd see in a mall store, only you can get exactly what you want. Once again, I'm not intending to pitch anything here, just a bit of clarification. Should someone wish to chat, please e-mail me off board.

Thanks for the edification, Mike.

After looking at your site, I can't imagine risking harm to any of your products by wearing them during rock climbing, or working on a card. (I don't even wear a watch when working on a car.)

At any rate, this is the first I've every heard or seen of mokume gane, and it's incredible.
