iMac has always crashed at random times. It's my home/work box and is under Apple Care. I keep hoping the last time will be the time it heals itself. Can't really trace down what causes it.

Here is the last report it kicked out after the seize. Any ideas?

Do you have any 3rd party RAM installed in there? Many times, it's bad RAM that causes kernel panic crashes.

I would look back at the other crashes to see if it is the same application or process. If it is not then it is likely a RAM issue.

Hmmm. I did put some OWC RAM in it. I think it had crashing issues prior to that. Will investigate.

It could also be the STOCK RAM...
It doesn't happen often, but RAM can go bad.

If you boot from a completely "clean" system, factory stock, nothing else... and it still locks up at some point, then it's hardware (99.9% chance).

I know what you mean, Black. Crash reports are about as obscure and impenetrable as can be.

Just did the same damn thing.

I've re-set the RAM and etc. I guess I have to go looking for new RAM. Bummer as I tried to support OWC on this.

I've been in touch with Larry at OWC and he's been epic great about it.

I had constant kernel panics with a brand new iMac a little over a year ago. I called Apple a dozen times, uninstalled everything, etc. (But some things I could not change: I had to have MS Office and a few third party apps.)

I upgraded to Yosemite and haven't had a problem since--not one.

Of course, I had a clone of my HD before I went to Yosemite, so I could always rewind if there was a problem, but it has been trouble-free since then.

If Article Accellerator says the code says it's bad RAM, then I guess it's bad RAM. But I missed where chopper pulled the OWC RAM and the crashes went away.
