Found Myself A Ms Pac Man Arcade Game...

Found it on Ebay LOCALLY in my home town. He had a REALLY GOOD buy it now price. I made him an offer but then noticed that SEVERAL other offers popped up so I used the "BUY IT NOW" button. Why even bother trying to save $50.

He states it works great, new locks, no burn in & already has the speed up chip installed... Best of all, it's local and I can pick it up tonight.

I'm very very excited. The cabinet is CLEAN but defiantly wants some work. I might need a controller overlay (about $40) and a new joystick (stated it was pretty loose). My father is pretty good w/ matching paint so anything damaged due to normal wear and tear we should be able to match nicely.

Yes, especially for $500 locally... All the stores have them for $1350+ for CLEAN... W/ new graphics its $1900+... If I get bored I can sell it and make a buck or two or at least break even...

I still dream about owning a Tempest machine. Those things were almost being thrown away just ten years ago.

Man, that would be a major suck of time if I had one of those things now...

Congratulations on the Ms Pac Man.

I've got the old Atari Star Wars wireframe arcade game in my house. It's on loan from a friend.

But for those of you within driving distance of Baltimore, there's a large auction being held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium on Saturday, October 28th.

It's a pretty large auction with a diversity of games and some foodservice items like refrigerators. It's quite impressive and worth checking out. Just remember to bring your own extension cord to test out the games.

Cool! I posted once about an original RBI Baseball arcade game I restored. It was actually "fun" doing the restore. The Ms. Pac Man's are by far one of the most sought after games out there. Congrats!

That old StarWars arcade game always got my heart pumping.

Crossbow, Rygar, SpyHunter, MarblelMadness, Rush 'N Attack, My Hero, Track and Field, 1943,,, etc. I've spent way, wayyyy too many hours and quarters in those smoky corners of pizzerias and delis as a kid.

Tempest, that game ate waaay too many quarters, and hours of my time.
I would love to have one of those machines.

Defender...

My buddy just bought a Defender Stargate. It's pretty cool and he's really good at that game.

Here's the game I remember playing at the arcade at Yaupon Beach, NC now known as Oak Island, "Battlezone" wireframe. I'd like to have one.

That is totally not fair. We never have any arcade game auctions in the NW.

After I get my rampart I am going to get:

adams family pinball (gold editon if possible)
Twilight zone Pinball
Galaga cocktail
Marble Madness
Robotron

Tempests are almost impossible to find these days. I've been to half a dozen arcade auctions and still haven't seen one.

I have an Asteroids Deluxe stand-up and a Missile Command tabletop, plus a couple of non-working stand-ups (Kickman and Eyes) that I literally bought for five dollars in the pre-eBay days when arcade games were going for nothing. Asteroids I got in a trade for an old Donkey Kong, Jr that originally cost me $35. The Missile Command I bought at auction for $250.

Ms. Pac-Mans (Pac-Men?) and Galagas are still relatively expensive, because they're about the only 80's-era games that people will still put a quarter in. Star Wars is pricey too, but that's because of the collectors-item appeal. Everything else, with a few exceptions (see Tempest) can be had in the $2-300 range if you keep your eyes open.

Ended up picking it up Monday night and everything was as described. I am coming up w/ a plan of action for the restoration. I will be at least getting a new joystick, controller overlay, repaint the inside area over the monitor black, new T-molding, a little work on the coin door (repaint and polish up the metal). From there, I need to decide if I want new graphics or if it's worth it to mask out the bad areas and have my dad use an airbrush to touch them up.

Here are some images of the game.

If anyone has any advice on where to start first or possibly a good forum for arcade games I would greatly appreciate it.
