Tool for joining MTS video files (AVCHD)?

That's basically it - have a number of .MTS files from a Sony camcorder that I need to join into one file, which I will then push through Handbrake to create an MP4/M4V file.

There is, of course, a ton of questionable video converters out there that claim to do the job so any recommendations of something that actually works as advertised would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Doesn't iMovie handle those now?

yeah iMovie should handle them just fine. final cut pro or premiere would as well.
