Sabrent USB 3.0 enclosure

As a follow-up from the thread:

Since I had a second SSD, I thought to buy the Sabrent USB 3.0 enclosure. I re-did the test with the same SSD. Not bad...a 10% speed improvement and it is noticeably faster on booting:

Wowzer,

Which model enclosure? I'm searching for a well-designed, higher quality USB 3.0 enclosure that supports UASP. So far, I'm happy with a particular unit from StarTech but I'm always on the look out for alternatives.

Is that the correct product, it's a USB 2.0 enclosure for $6.99.

I think he meant the one to the right, there are some USB3 models in there at $12.99

Specs do not specify UASP support. They don't even list the SATA bridge speed.
Of course for $13, I wouldn't expect too much.

The SATA bridge speed is SATA-III, based on wowzer's 256K Read results.

MrNoBody,

Many of the dirt cheap enclosures support UASP now. I wouldn't purchase a box that doesn't offer it.

Strange...my enclosure is plastic, not aluminum. That was the link from my Amazon purchase.

Wowzer,

This is a huge issue I have with Amazon.com. It's easy to jump to the siteand look at a particular enclosure. The problem they group lots of info together now. Follow that link, it displays all the enclosures but they aren't the same. Click on one of the others and the info changes to reflect that enclosure. Yet, they all appear to be listed in the same group. Amazon does the same thing with reviews. You can read a great review ony to find it's for a different model. Very annoying.

Robert

P.S. Space, UASP is a newer standard that's in the USB 3.0 spec. Or, so I've been led to believe. The result is noticeably improved performance over enclosures that lack it.

Thanks, I did look up the term and now I know what it means (USB Attached SCSI Protocol). Wikipedia has an article about this, but it lacks details. I am looking at other sites to see what this means in real world. Funny how SCSI is still mentioned these days, if not in the hardware form (remember those terminators, and I think we had to change some switches to have unique IDs on a given bus), at least in "software" form (protocols).
