From what I understand, you need an Apple Device to download the App and sign up. Or Optimum. I have iPhone, iPad and various MacBooks and even Mac Mini, but I do not want to watch on Laptop, nor iPhone. One new MacMini is in the office. I have an older Mac Mini in the living room but I doubt that is able to play streaming (I had trouble streaming the Olympics). Anyway, I wonder if I could get HBO Now on Roku (after I sign up via some iPad for example). Does anyone know? when it launched, I did look for a Roku channel but all I found was HBO Go, I did not see the HBO Now.

Might work if you don't mind getting up and walking over to the TV to interface with the iOS device.

I would buy the Apple TV for $69 versus spending $45 for a mere video adapter. Sometimes even cheaper for the Apple TV if you find an open box.

Yes, I don't see a good reason to buy an adapter, I am not always happy with Roku so I might just as well give Apple TV a shot.

There was a private channel for AirPlay support, but I don't know if it is still being developed.

We now use both ATV and our Roku for different things. Both have their pluses and both have unique features.

Borrowing and HBO Go signon is the common way to watch HBO on the Roku.
