AAPL; Do you realize....
Posted by: Paul F.

Do you realize that adjusting for the 7:1 Split, AAPL is now at (what would have been) $890 a share?

I only have 120 shares, but my 'earliest' shares were bought at $9.38/share. Those 34 shares may not amount to a lot of money, but I have to admit, "up 1,207%" looks pretty good, LOL.

OK.. please go back to what you were doing...

Yea, i bought 100 shares when it was $17.25, sold 2 or 3 times, and still have 50 shares that are now 350 shares.

Seriously if I had bought 10x as much it would have been a million made.

Dinner's on Paul! I'll take mine in Pizza form.

I heard that Apple may soon become the first Trillion dollar company. Then dinner is on you again.

Whoa. And Microman too.

I cashed out on principle (conflict of interest), but should have taken the money and ran. Man, my share would have only been a little under $20,000, but that was way over my investment.

I really wish I hadn't sold 3-4 shares pre-split...
I needed the money for something else. I think those shares I bought at under $20, way back when.

I only got myself organized to buy stock fairly recently, but my AAPL investment is looking pretty good.

I told my daD that he should but some back when it was about $12 a share, but of course he didn't. Wish I had.

I too had to sell some shares because I needed the cash. Hate that I had to do that. Hate that I also didn't have enough confidence to buy more at $15 way back when.

My average cost/share is about $17.50. I can ride out quite a bit of volatility and still come out ahead. I sold half of my shares every time the price doubled, so I've already gotten my money out of the stock, and then some. Everything now is gravy. Had I held the stock I'd have a lot more gravy though.

My dad bought a bunch of shares at $27 and more at $22 then got chicken and sold them all at $17. Figure in the 3 splits since then and he would be a very wealthy man right now!

Damn. That drove the point home. I'm happy for the shares I have. Glad, even. smiling smiley

I think I told you way back when not to sell some shares.

Unfortunately, recently, I needed cash and sold some too. Good thing I still have a few.

...back to wha' I was doing... reading here. Bought Ethyl some when it was about $124, but that was way back before some splits. She's up real good. I wanted to buy Apple stock back in '90s, but didn't know how to do online brokerage back then! I'd be sitting mighty good now, IF... IF... a frog had wings, he might not bump his rump either.

Interesting. I bought 75 shares at about $26 per share in around 1999. It promptly decreased and I sold them at $13/share b/c I needed what meager cash I had in it. Yes, I'm one of the only guys who has lost money on AAPL.

I finally bought back 25 last year at $666/share. I figured this was a good number, since that was the price of the original Apple I computer. I'm happy with what it has done, but would be smiling a lot more if I had held onto those original 75->150->1050 shares (after splits).

At least my main mutual fund on that account has a solid position on AAPL, so it's been doing okay.

I had 7 shares stashed in my IRA that I bought way back when.

It is now 98 shares and the gain is 6,489%.

I bought at roughly $35 but unfortunately sold half of it. Glad I kept the other half. Even so, what I have is certainly a nice sum in one IRA which has resulted in maybe 1/4 of what I have saved for retirement so far.
