We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account...

I got a couple of these emails Saturday to two different gmail accounts and changed all my passwords as a result. (Which is a nuisance to do on a desktop, iPhone, and iPad, etc.) Monday, I got another to a third account. Today, another to...I've lost track...I have multiple gmail accounts for various reasons.
Should I be worried? Do I need to change passwords every darn day???

I had two in the same day, to the same (largely unused) account, from my location.

I changed the password the first time (to something I never use elsewhere), and just ignored it after the second.

I figured it was a google glitch. No way someone cracked the new password.

Also...the IP address is from our internet provider and the location is from where I live. I think each message has been regarding a different gmail account each time so far, so am wondering if it's a normal thing as a result of an upgrade or something.

Are you signing in via an old mail app that they no longer support ?

I get that every time I hit the Apple mail icon in the dock on my old laptop with 10.6 by mistake.

It's Google. Happens on Yosemite's Mail and iOS8. If they are insecure it'd be news. This happens every few months. Beginning to think it's a lame marketing ploy to move people to the Gmail app. Yes, the notices say it's your town, your IP etc --- it's YOU who became a problem to them, not some hacker.

That said, I did get that message once when it wasn't me and I changed my password. But these errors or whatever will lull people into ignoring legit threats.

If your ISP changes your IP, or you log-in from a device that's never been used for that Gmail acct., use a new/updated app for Gmail, or you reboot your router or modem; Google reports it as a threat!

I've had this happen several times now, too. The first time, a few months ago, it freaked me out and I think I posted here and was told not to worry so much about it. I think it was also noted that Google was trying to get users to use their app or something for getting mail (I forget exactly). What is most alarming and puts me off is the fear-mongering they include in the notice. Something like "someone KNOWS (or has) your password". I hate Google more and more each day.

Of the three times it happened, I was home at the time.
