Camden Yard (Baltimore) locked down

Watching the Sox/Os in the 10th inning, suddenly a message on the Jumbotron from the mayor telling fans to not leave the park. Some kind of disturbance maybe citywide.

Game just ended with an Os walk off home rum, wonder what all those fans will do now and what's going on outside those gates.

Violent Freddie Gray protests citywide and right outside Camden Yard.

Isn't that the guy who was stopped by police for felony running while black? And misdemeanor eye contact with a LEO?

Yep.

During the march, some of the demonstrators confronted about 50 police officers in front of the baseball stadium, where the Baltimore Orioles were due to play the Boston Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. There were no plans to cancel or postpone the game.

While watching a Sox game - you gotta be kidding.

Seems the local police didn't overreact and things are calming down. They canceled Metro Service to the Yard so at least local taxis were having a big night ferrying out-of-town baseball fans back to their lodgings.

No deaths, not sure about injuries but more importantly no police overreaction so it looks like the firebrands trying to provoke a riot failed.

Worst of all, the Sox lost!

Reason enough to protest the Red Sox being in town.

Open letter to protestors:

I know you want to either impart change, but the protesting you are doing is only reinforcing the stereotypes that I think you want to change.

Are you sure they want to change them?

It wasn't citywide and it lasted about an hour, with some looting and maybe 12 arrests. I've seen worse trouble after some cities win the Stanley Cup or the Super Bowl. There was a white chick in high heels and a skirt making an iPhone video of the police line, and a guy walking his golden retriever, at about 10:00 pm.

The problem was getting all that traffic out of the city, so they had to have the fans wait until the streets were clear of protesters, hoodlums, and police horses, trucks, etc. I live a twenty minute walk from Camden Yards and it was as peaceful as a country road here.
