OT: Anybody have any experience w/ Zydus Pharmaceuticals medications?

If so, please comment away about the efficacy, dosing, side-effects, etc. of your experience(s).

The mail order pharmacy tied to our UHC health insurance plan periodically switches up suppliers (presumably for lower costs), and Zydus is currently their only supplier for one of my generic medications. Zydus is based in India, and has only been in the domestic (USA) market for about ten years, and for reasons that I personally do not find compelling, they have somehow acheived impressive market penetration since their entry into the US pharma's market. Since their generic ("Zygenerics") med was new-to-me upon its recent receipt, I tried a little web research, and couldn't come up with anything positive about any of their medications... hence, I thought I'd look here, and on a few other boards I hang with, and ask for any hands-on experiences. Thanks.

Yes, I know that folks tend to bitch a heckuva lot more online than they tend to praise in many such situations, but usually there are enough positive rebuttals sprinkled in to get enought info to formulate a reasonable conclusion. Unfortunately, I'm still looking for any of those positive Zydus/Zygenerics rebuttals so my initial conclusion is not yet (anywhere close to) favorable.

FWIW, I even called the mail order supplier and spoke w/ one of the actual head pharmacists, who upon a bit of prodding, finally acknowledged that he was not thrilled w/ Zydus' products for the reasons found online. He suggested sourcing meds locally in the future, from a pharmacy where you can get your medications from a better rated manufacturer. I thought that was quite telling. Again, thanks for sharing your Zydus/Zygenerics experiences.

well, it sounds like he was saying, without saying, that if possible, NOT using the mail order pharmacy option.

If there is a generic manufacturer you prefer, your mail order pharmacy can probably order it for you. Depending on the pharmacy policy, you might be able to make that request, or your Rx may need to be noted by your prescriber to be dispensed only as that specific manufacturer with the reason for the request stated on the Rx. You can use retail if that works with your prescription plan, or check the mail pharmacy on the DAW (dispense as written) for a specified generic option would work.

Mail order only supplies generics from its current "list"... that's why head pharmacist was steering me towards a local pharmacy in the future; they have been able to (eventually) source desired generic brands. Still looking for first hand experiences w/ Zydus. Thanks.

Zydus is currently their only supplier for one of my generic medications. Zydus is based in India, and has only been in the domestic (USA) market for about ten years ..

A college friend (Phd), who used to travel the world examining manufacturing of pharmaceutical imports, has not travelled in a several years due to cutbacks and tells me "field contacts" are now responsible for examination. Being away from home for weeks was no great desire of his, and he doesn't miss it, however he seems generally skeptical about the quality of examinations taking place.
