This is a great deal for OTA use. Very good Wife acceptance factor for a DVR & no monthly fees.

Per the SlickDeals comments, no cable card slot on this model. Deal killer unfortunately.

I am not wise in the ways of Tivo models (obviously).

No problem, just messing with you. Thank you for being in good humor. smiling smiley

This is tempting, but I already have $200 in SimpleTV boxes from the last couple years, otherwise…it is quite tempting. Then again, I need access to the recorded shows on three TVs and the Roamio won't do that without more hardware. Also need access at two different physical locations. Again, that requires more hardware. For all its many faults, I think I'm stuck with the SimpleTV for a while. Wish I had jumped on the four tuner Tablo deal for $200. That was a steal, even after adding another $150 for lifetime. Oh well, if SimpleTV would just fix the Android app (and smooth out Chromecast and Plex support, then it won't be so bad).

Overpricing the company to death. Very tragic. smiling smiley
