Two questions:

1. How often do you (spouse/so/bf/gf) change (launder) your bedsheets? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly?

2. How often do you change (launder) your bath towels?

1. Every two weeks. I spend a week on one side and a week on the other.

2. They get changed every three or four days but not laundered until enough like items have accumulated for a decent sized load of wash.

I bet you wanted answers from people who don't live alone, huh?

1. About every month for the sheets

2. Usually every 1-2 weeks for the towels

With a 4yo girl in the house chores have a tendency to slip schedule as we struggle to keep up with her and stay on top of the messes she makes.

When I can smell my butt while taking a walk on a cold and windy day...it's time. Then, i take all my clothes, sheets, sponges...put them in a pile, douse them with gas and burn them.

I won't mention dancing around the burning pile wearing nothing but a headband that says "POWER OF ROCK".

Why do you ask?

Every once in awhile, new sheets appear on the bed (and the kids' beds) and new towels show up in the bathroom. I'm not sure how this happens...but I'm not complaining.

The reason I ask is because I'm trying to convince my wife to establish a schedule rather than just "whenever I complain enough"...

We're certainly not the most neat -- with 3 dogs running around (two golden retrievers and an Australian shepherd mix; all long hair), we have dust bunnies the size of some small pets... We don't dust or vacuum nearly enough to keep on top of it; and the fact that it doesn't bother either of us until someone's coming over (got to keep up those appearances)...

If your wife isn't changing the sheets quickly enough, I'll bet she could show you how to do it for yourself.

I'd do laundry more often if I had a house. However, the fact that I have to schlepp a bag of laundry to the Laundromat motivates me to not let things accumulate for too long. I'd rather carry a smaller, lighter bag than one requiring the assistance of pack animals.

What am I missing here? You're trying to convince your wife to clean before it gets to the point where YOU complain enough?! You didn't really say that, did you? I misunderstood, right?

Would there be a major problem with the two of you picking a time - like maybe Saturday morning - and whipping through those little chores together? Good grief, even my late husband, who was born back in the Stone Age along with me, figured out eventually that working together to get a few mundane tasks done was a good idea. You should be young enough to still be trainable.

If the sheets start to get up and move on their own, then you waited way to long....

Sheets changed/washed weekly, unless there is a need for sooner.

Towels changed every 2 days, washed on weekends.

1. Depends on when and IF I get lucky (which has been rare lately)! Usually before (if it is planned) and a day or two after....

Otherwise about every 1 or 4 weeks depending again on the season.

2. Usually a new towel appears every 4 to 7 days depending on Humidity and the Weather, & frequency of use.

I'm a bachelor and I never really thought of these things until now. Funny I went shopping for new sheets and a comforter tonight but didn't see anything I liked at the store I went too.

How come all the cheaper/reasonably priced stuff has Flowers on it?

Sheets every weekend - I would do it more often in the summer just because I love
the feel of cool crisp sheets. It's almost time to switch over to the flannels. Comforter
gets it about once a month.

Towels - a new one every two or three uses. So a couple a week.

I guess that is one advantage of working from home. I'm not one of those at home workers
that maintains a strict eight hr schedule. I will bounce the office, to the studio, to doing
a load of laundry to whatever . My hardest thing is getting clean laundry folded
and put away. I get a load or two done every couple days but then I have two huge
baskets of clean stuff waiting to make the final leap to the drawers and closet.

Same here. I have a bunch of clean sheets and other clothes waiting for folding and hanging. It's been like that for a few days now.

I've had my failings as a housekeeper through the years, but I've never figured out how people can wind up with baskets of unfolded laundry. Everything that comes out of my dryer is folded immediately, using the top of the washer and dryer as the work area. It's even easier when I'm in a laundromat, because they've got such cool tables. If you snag the stuff as soon as the dryer turns off, it sure does cut down on the extra work of getting wrinkles out.
