There is some really bad photoshopping in that article. Be warned.

I think we are talking about photo retouchers, not graphic designers.

That is some pretty horrible retouching work, not even considering the changes they made. I wouldn't hire a single one of them to work on a project. I think they might have asked a 16 year old in each country to "Photoshop" a picture.

Aside from that, the Latin countries seemed to be the best about not changing her body size drastically.

All but four were apparently "retouched" done by women:

We focused on female designers, as we wanted a woman’s view of what her culture finds attractive and to understand more about the pressures they face. However, in order to get entries from more countries, we accepted contributions from four men with the caveat that they first seek input from women and base their design changes on this feedback. - See more at: [onlinedoctor.superdrug.com]

I think they mention the initial study used some amateurs and this study was similar. I just love China - wtf?

The worst was the China version IMHO.

They took the instructions to represent native vision quite literally, there is very, very few, massive examples like the original in China.
Many have not seen any....

I don't think it's about whether or not the retouchers have any ability, and it's not meant to convince anybody that it's real. It's supposed to be a social commentary. These things are a dime a dozen on Facebook and usually not worth spending more than, say, two minutes looking at.
