So how many soon-to-be obsolete Apple products do you use everyday?

I'm typing this on a Mac running a 30" ACD from 2007 - will be officially 'obsolete' by Apple Sept 8, 2015.

Full list here:

[9to5mac.com]

I have a 5th gen iPod nano, a 3rd gen iPod shuffle, and some other items listed here in full service at home.

What about you? How many do you have?

I have the original AppleTV in my garage hooked up to a boombox. I can airplay music to it. I will move to an Airport Express someday but not yet.

I use an 80GB iPod in the car for tunes. I still have the original 5GB iPod but I don't use it.

Ukulele music I couldn't find anywhere else.

None of those listed in the article. My oldest device in daily use is an original Airport Base Station but I have many devices that are used daily that were obsoleted years ago by Apple.

Love me my 5th gen Nanos, but wasn't really anticipating taking them in for service or support when they failed....

Still getting the job done with my iPhone 3GS. Over six years old!

Also have an iPod 10 GB second generation that runs 24/7 in my old school basement workshop. That thing runs for a solid nine months out of the year, hopefully fooling potential thieves into thinking someone is in the building.

Also have two 1st generation Apple TVs that are becoming more and more useless. YouTube won't support them any longer? What Bull Squirt!

As you might notice, The Rick-o HATES to get rid of stuff that still works perfectly fine.

I'm still using my 3GS as well. Mine is developing amnesia though. I listen to music with it on shuffle. I'll pause the music when I'm done. When I return to it the next day to continue, it'll play the same random songs in order from where it started the last session, rather than where it left off. Guess it forgets to mark them as played or something. Really confused me for a while there, everything was so familiar.

I have a pair of Power Mac G5 towers running 24/7 since new. They are packed with RAID cards and now 5 hard drives each thanks to G5 Jive brackets. They act as data servers in m studio

My Power Macs sport dual 1.8ghz G5 CPU's and support up to 8 GB ram, although the are at 6.

The PCI-X slots are the reason I have stuck with them so long as the RAID cards are PCI-X

One runs headless and another has a 17" ADC monitor

Those 5th gen Nano's are kind of special aren't they? Built in video camera and FM tuner makes them unique.

I've pretty much forgotten about the cameras, which actually make these things a real bear to get in and out of for battery replacement, but I do love the FM tuner.

Every Apple product I own is obsolete. Not a joke. I'm a big Low End Mac proponent so it makes sense.

G4 iMac 15"

hah, beat you all. used as iTunes server.

BUT, also use this machine to design some simple graphics (has my CS suite of 2007 era software...), works great, except for the lack of USB2...

edit: oh, and i will say that using this machine for actual work makes me happy to no end

Hurts like a bastid...

Frankenmac'ed PM7300 w/ 500MHz G3 card, 2 X 9GB U2WSCSI Quantum HDD's, 1GB RAM, U2WSCSI card, FW/USB combo card, IX Micro Ultimate Rez video card, upgraded CDRW optical drive. Boots Mac OS 8.1 and 8.6 respectively on internal drives... have yet to find a better in-house fax server than w/ 8.6. External enclosure has newer OS's. Some more recent (less obsolete?) goodies still grace the premises but do not get powered up w/ regularity.

This. My i3 Mac Mini at work is the only non-obso Apple I own. Typing this on my G4 Powerbook, my vacation Mac. Core 2 Duos at home (purchased only this year), as well as backup G4s.
