I have only done this on my old tech iPad 2. I have noticed a slight speed increase.

Have you checked out "low power mode?" It is supposed to help battery life.

I believe my brain runs on that mode the majority of the time.

i just stumbled upon the new capabilities of an upgraded Notes app. i can see where it can come in useful to store thoughts on a web page and quick note/doodling capabilities. scanning the Verge article it doesn't seem like they mention it.

Go read my post about all the memory space gained! My iPad went from 400 MB free to over 1.2 GB free! Just from the update!

8.3 was the last good iOS for our phones (a 5s, 5c, and 5). For some reason once we upgraded to 8.4 our batteries began draining badly, especially in standby mode. Once I realized it was too late to revert to 8.3, I thought I'd experiment with my 5s and installed everything from scratch (as a new phone) to see if that was the problem. I've scoured the web to see what fixes seemed to work for the battery drain on my <1 yr old phone and was able to help it a little, but it still drained much faster than 8.3 and below. And since it's happening on all our phones, I could only assume it had to do with the 8.4 update. Was hoping 9 would be the fix - especially with the 'extra hour battery life' claim, but I think it's at least as bad as 8.4 if not a tad worse on my phone. Any suggestions besides what I've already tried? (restore, hard restart, turning off push, most location services, and background app refresh)

Still looking for Home Sharing in music. It's either very well hidden or doesn't work here. I'm signed in with the same AppleID but the Shared choice isn't showing up for Music nor Videos.

It's at the bottom of Music under Settings, though I haven't tested it out yet to see if it works

That's where you login to Home Sharing, not what I asked about.

After making the news about it disappearing this summer and Eddy Cue's mention of it "hopefully" coming back, I didn't see it mentioned in any of the normal online reviews.

Ah - I stumbled across the music-settings info when I was going through settings to see if there was anything else I could turn off to help my battery. I've since tried to access home sharing and I'm also stumped :-(

Seem like a few visible changes but more under the hood. You can swipe from the left and get a new screen, keyboard has lower case and upper case when typing, app switching changed a little when you double click the home button and the notes app like was mentioned above. Also Siri was upgraded a little and you have a few more apps on the screen you can't delete.

The default Messages and Mail keyboard is in lower case, switching to Upper when you hit the shift key. I turned that off, All Caps keys all the time, for me.

Quickly double-tap the Home button and see the new method of sliding through open apps.

Those are just two changes.

I had to boost the Brightness and font size after the update.

Also, the podcast app was changed. It's pages become colored to reflect the color of each podcast's icon. Annoying, I turned that off.

Overall, I do *not* like the San Francisco font on a screen larger than the Watch.

I've always felt that the proportions of San Francisco are ideal for the small, almost square display of the Apple Watch but are something of a fish out of water on a more rectangular screen like that of an iPhone or iPad, even with the tweaks they made in bringing it to iOS.

It is what it is.

Got confirmation elsewhere Home Sharing is indeed back, it's just still inconsistent as ever. I have everything setup correctly everywhere and it just doesn't show up.

You know, when you setup a Mail account the app goes out and tests the connection and lets you know if there's a problem right away. But with Home Sharing, the only thing Apple does is verify the Apple ID you logged in with is valid.

They don't do anything to verify if Home Sharing is gonna actually work, which is why they have that Help page that goes on and on about double-checking your local network/router/moonphase and chakra stones in hopes of getting it all to jibe.
