Can you pop the drive out of the case? I.e. Is this a normal SATA drive?

From the comments on sd, the drive has a soldered-on USB connector rather than a std SATA one.

Okay. Thanks! Still not a bad price, but as someone who has experienced case failure (or power supply failure without a spare handy for 3.5" drives), being able to pop out the drive is important to me.

Ive got a 500 GB WD with a bad connector -- but the drive is fine, of course its soldered on. Ugh. Out of warranty. ewaste now.

I replaced it with a Toshiba "slim" drive -- its so small, barely bigger than a bare 2.5" drive -- I have to imagine its also soldered on too.

And now we know why this occurs. Keeps us buying new drives. Bastards!
