seeking suggestions for movie scenes of skiing and snowboarding

Folks,

I've been asked to come up with a curriculum of teenagers and parents from China who will be visiting Vancouver in the winter. The trip is a combination of learning and practicing English and a lot of skiing and winter activities.

Since I'm not a skier, I don't watch a lot of skiing movies. Are there any skiing scenes that you can recommend from different films? Both adventurous and comic scenes would work.

thanks, Todd's no-wax keyboard

For some silly 80's skiing comedy, Better Off Dead.
The last several scenes, starting at about 1:20:50.

There are a few skiing scenes earlier in the movie as well.

The opening of "For Your Eyes Only"

They not only learn to ski, but how to do so while drinking a martini (shaken, not stirred) and avoid automatic weapons fire from snowmobilers at the same time. A real modern cultural lesson.

Anything from the Warren Miller films if you want skiing/snowboarding scenes without a plot.
[en.wikipedia.org]

A few Bond movies come to mind - the opening sequence of The Spy Who Loved Me is great. For Your Eyes Only as well has a few choice skiing scenes while Bond is being chased by an Olympic Biathalon competitor and his goons.

For more risque scenes, try Hot Dog: The Movie. The Chinese Downhill is classic.

Edit: Great minds think alike - re: Bond. James Bond.

Ski Party [www.imdb.com]

Asspen, a South Park episode [www.imdb.com]

The Pink Panther (original version) [www.imdb.com]

Some of the earlier Bond movies had a lot of skiing where Bond gets shot at while on skis

EDIT: Heh! Missed it by THAT much with the Bond movies.

Icing would be if anyone can come up with a search-and-rescue comedy scene.

I was going to suggest the Warren Miller films as well. A bit extreme perhaps, but usually long, continuous, real footage of one or a few skiers on one run versus the Hollywood magic of editing together the best shots of several days of filming and possibly multiple physical locations.
